DIY - Dog bed
A genius idea, a pet bed for the couch! People love it too - this bed protects the sofa and can match your interior decor. Read on to see the drafting instructions and easy it is to sew together.
Materials
Jacquard woven fabric Thread Volume fleece Scissors Chalk Seam gauge Straight pins Sewing needle Edge shaper
STEP 1
Cut out pieces according to the drawing: 2 x from the outer fabric and 2 x from the fleece (add 2 cm (3/8 in) seam allowance). Fabric requirement approx. 110 cm (43 3/8 in).
Step 2
Place the two pattern pieces cut from the outer fabric right sides together and stitch 2 cm from the edge (3/4 in) (leave an opening at the bottom (20 cm (7 7/8 in) for turning inside out).
Step 3
Carefully clip the inner corners and trim the outer corners.
Step 4
Turn the dog bed inside out through the opening and use the corner shaper to make nice corners. Now sew the opening shut by hand.
Step 5
Stitch around the edge at a distance of approx. 1 cm (3/8 in) with long stitches (you may want to baste the edges in advance to keep the fabric from slipping).
Step 6
Mark the three inner lines (seat) with chalk and stitch them.
Step 7
Now fold up the two corners and sew them together by hand.
Finished
Now it is ready for your little furry friend to snuggle up on the couch, and it's very pretty to look at too!
Extra tip
For a harmonious look, simply buy enough fabric to sew matching pillows for the sofa too.
