- Elastic band 2 cm (3/4 in)
- Trick marker
- Sewing needle
- Straight pins
- Seam gauge
- Safety pins
- Tape measure
Cut out the templates: 2X A on fold, 1x B, elastic band 16 cm (6 1/4 in) (all templates already include seam allowance).
Fold B (casing for elastic) right sides together, align the presser foot with the edge on the long edge and topstitch (0.7 cm (1/4 in)). Press seam allowances apart.
Use the safety pin to turn the piece inside out. Press flat. Use the safety pin to thread the elastic through and fix the ends in place at 0.5 cm (1/4 in).
Place piece A right sides together and pin at the one of the notches right B (casing + elastic).
Align the presser foot with the edge (approx. 0.7 cm (1/4 in)) and stitch all around. Leave an opening for the elastic on the left side and an opening at the bottom for turning inside out (approx. 5 cm (2 in).
Turn the headband inside out, loosely tie a knot (far to right) and insert the elastic band in the opening.
Turn right side in through the open-ing and stitch the elastic band. Now turn inside out, sew up the opening by hand and move the knot to the centre.
Very comfortable to wear thanks to the soft jersey and elastic at the back.
Save a little scrap from your next project make to sew a matching hairband to bring your entire look together.
