BurdaStyle is the largest DIY fashion and sewing community with over half a million registered members and nearly 7 million pageviews a month. A “sort of Facebook for sewers” (The New York Times), the average age of our readers is 29.
Our aim is to bring the craft of sewing to a new generation of fashion designers, hobbyists, DIYers as well as inspire fashion enthusiasts. The website offers thousands of stylish handcrafted clothes, downloadable PDF sewing patterns, tutorials, project ideas and a community passionate about fashion. Press coverage on BurdaStyle can be found here.
Nora Abousteit is our co-founder and runs the BurdaStyle operations. Besides managing, conceptualizing and strategizing, she is especially delighted to share her experience with building BurdaStyle and reaching out to people interested in working with or joining the BurdaStyle community. Eating colorful food and storytellers make her happy.
Alison Kelly works as an editor and creative director at BurdaStyle, overseeing the weekly Featured Projects and Editor's Pick blog. She loves to sew, make jewelry, search for vintage one-offs, and was a contestant on Project Runway season 3. Alison designs her own clothing line, dahl, when she's not at BurdaStyle
Carol Cho is the BurdaStyle Marketing & Partnership Director and leads strategic marketing, partnerships and experiential promotions for BurdaStyle. She's inspired by art, music and fashion.
Benedikta von Karaisl used to share the job of running BurdaStyle with Nora. To her the most exciting aspect of BurdaStyle was to bring you the freshest patterns and designs, learnings and sewing news with the help of the incredible team. She has now moved to Berlin to start Etsy Europe with her husband Matt Stinchcomb.
We are a friendly bunch using the web to bring the craft of sewing to a new generation of designers, hobbyists, DIYers and anyone looking to sew.
BurdaStyle offers interested companies and organizations packages to reach its audience.
