When I saw this wool on sale for $10/yd at Stone Mountain, I knew I had to get it. I immediately started researching ideas for warm, winter dresses. The main design challenge is that wool doesn’t work very well for fitted long sleeves or bulky details, but I still wanted something with a little interest. The final design is based on a dress from Pinterest. True, it’s not especially wintery with its short hem and short sleeves (I had a yard to work with), but the fact that it is wool alone makes it warmer than any other dress I own.

I love the little waist gather. Did you draft the pattern yourself from the image? Very creative!
