What happens when you sew the sides of your two-tone apron together and add straps? A summer top!
This project was inspired by a too-big shirt with a wild print. I carefully picked every piece of it apart, and used the resulting fabric for the center panel, the top and the straps. I paired it with some black jersey knit for the sides, and sewed it up. While I was at it, I decided to practice top stitching. So every seam is top stitched in red.
A tee-shirt, cut apart, and some cotton jersey knit for the sides and back.

Thanks! The stretchy fabrics aren’t hard to sew, but there’s a learning curve. I love to wear knits, so I thought it was worth figuring out. I had to try it a few different ways to figure out how to make it work on my machine. It turns out that if I push the fabric into the needle, everything looks pretty decent.

Very cool! I am terrified of stretchy fabrics :-) I really like the print on the center panel
