Description

The hungry caterpillar is my daughters latest fad so cute so i was inspired to make her his duvet cover.
Finally completed and much loved. This was a real labour of love which took every minute of my spare time for about 10 months. The caterpillar is made up of individual pieces of felt all joined a quilted to give a lovely raised texture, the food is all hand embroidered and then sewn on to the main fabric and the check boarded is made up of 200 different poly cotton squares.
The butterfly is also made up of many different piece of felt all layered to give a love texture and once complete will be used as a wall hanging.
Once i started this project i had a real desire to seek some more formal sewing training which lead me to my local collage were i completed 2 terms of dress making classes so watch this space.

Material Notes

Felt something that i would not really recommend as it does not wear very well but saying that this project would not have worked with anything else.

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! This is simply awesome. Loved it as a child hard to believe it’s a 40 year old book and still going strong.

I adore this! This was one of my favourites as a child too! Gosh that book must be as old as the hills!

This is so beautiful – well worth the all the effort and is something you can keep forever and hand-on to your own children’s bambinos! Just lovely!
