Description

I made a coat from extremely strange fabric. It’s fleece but with a waterproof pique front. It was listed under the label “high performance.” I have no idea what made me buy it. I think I just really liked the warm grey color. I wanted to make an everyday coat- something I could throw in the wash but also something that looked a little nicer than a standard zip up fleece jacket. The pattern is a Burda envelope pattern, 7314. I skipped the lining and tried my hand at binding all the interior seams. Totally unnecessary but a good learning experience. I’m pleased with the result, though it’s far from perfect.

    I’ve just bought this pattern , hoping ( in the distant future! ) to make a coat, so its nice to see the finished article. It looks great and I’m impressed you did the pockets. I may just do patch pockets.

      You know, I don’t know what the difference is between the two- sadly. I guess they are just bound. And rather improperly in some places. Sometimes I just like to try something out and then learn about it later. It gives me some sort of experience to learn from.

      Sounds exactly like me! Bound seams then ripped them out then bound them again. ‘Then read a how to’. Sigh.

    Nice idea making a coat in fleece, my next project is a jacket and fleece looks great as an alternative fabric. Nice job btw!
