Burda Style For people who sew
Description
Here’s the costume I made to enter in a costume contest for my sister’s cat Scarlett.
I call it the “Giraffe Cat”
I used velboa fur for the giraffe fabric, and lined it with cream fleece. I also used pipe cleaners for the things on it’s head and stuffed animal “safety eyes”.
I used Simplicity 2613, View B for the giraffe head and upsized it, I also used Simplicity 4316, View B for the coat. It was for dogs, but I made it work for Scarlett.
I made my own pattern for the hat because Simplicity didn’t have a pattern for any kind of hat like that for an animal. I included a picture of the pattern I used for the hat, I haven’t quite figured out the pattern section on here yet. I’ve included instructions for the plain hat.
Poor Scarlett didn’t really like posing in this, but she was good enough to let me get a few great pictures.
So here she is! The Giraffe Cat!
Material Notes
1/2 yd. giraffe print fur
1/2 yd. cream fleece
brown thread
two brown pipe-cleaners
safety eyes for stuffed animals
snaps and hook & eyes
