While I worked on this, my husband nicknamed it “The Bag.”
My husband and I like to take driving trips, so I wanted a roomy bag that would fit comfortably on the floor of the car next to my feet. It also had to be large enough to hold a clipboard (for baseball scorecards), a bottle of water, a paperback book, and normal purse stuff (wallet, phone, keys). It had to be rigid enough to stay upright and open (if I wanted to knit out of it).
The shape and fabric give it the odd quality of looking old-lady and diaper-bag-like at the same time, but it does serve all of its practical purposes.
Cotton/poly quilting fabric for both the exterior and the lining. Fusible fleece interfacing for the body, medium-weight interfacing for the handles. Plastic sheet (for making quilting templates) to stabilize the bottom. Wright’s packaged piping.
