This is the first project I’ve made using a Burda Style Magazine pattern. I was so excited when I discovered this magazine and couldn’t believe how many patterns were included.
Being a novice, I decided to follow the instructions and pattern exactly as they were. Even the super sized bow, which I was concerned might be over the top.
Halfway through making this, I realized that there were some serious gaps in my sewing knowledge. The project was listed as “novice” in the magazine but is listed as “intermediate” on this website. Several youtube tutorials later, after a bit of hair pulling and some serious unpicking and re-stitching, it eventually came together and I’m quite happy with the end result. I like the big bow and love the colour. By using the voile, the bow hasn’t come out quite as full as the one in the picture, which I prefer as it makes it much more wearable. Luckily the bow and the colour are vibrant enough to detract from the little patches of wonky stitching and slightly uneven shoulders.
Despite all the mishaps, I think I might end up wearing this one afterall.
Many lessons learned from this project. Looking forward to starting the next one.

Great top! Looks like it’s something you can wear both casually and on more formal occasions. You could probably pull off wearing it throughout most of the seasons.
