My third Taliea coat/Jacket! It seems like it wont be a winter without a new Talea pattern creation (see my jacketey jack from winter 07-08 and the most awesome coat i ever own from winter 08-09). Except, my creation seem to get shorter and shorter each year! :) But what can i say? I tried using another coat pattern (project lux) and it just doesnt fit as well.
This is a super cropped Talea coat, i chopped off more than half of the body, used the double breasted variation, played around with the tabs, changed the sleeves (it can be folded back and buttoned back or a 3/4 sleeve look, but i forgot to take photos), simplified the collar, put in a welt pocket between the seams (its much easier than a proper welt pocket, and this all-interfaced thick cashmere would not have tollerated a proper welt pocket!), fully lined the coat with satin (left over from the most awesome coat i ever own) and tada! Its warm and chic at the same time!
Material used is left over cashmere from project lux coat. I think i still have enough left for a nice bag or a vest :P great use of 3 yards of material! being tiny has its advantages :)
oh and lastly, guess how many buttons i used!! if you guessed 22, you are right! :) There are two buttons inside each sleeves so that it can be folded out of that 3/4 sleeve look. i went a little crazy on them this time. when i first showed it to my fiance, he was a little shocked! but he likes it now that its finished :)

Awesome jacket! 22 buttons? If I ever make this jacket, I’d probably replace them with 22 zippers. :-P You really are the jacket-machine! Can’t wait to see it in person!

Waow cashmere! the quality of the fabric always requires extra precision and attention to details which you executed with brillo! Words up (sorry don’t really know if it means what I think it means, A US friend of mine explained me once, some rap stuff I guess) I cut the crap right now , keep on cutting cashmere though!

hahahaa, i think i know what word up means! but it sounds cool anyhow :) i read that cashmere leaves pin marks a lot more than wool, so i was careful with this one. though this is fully interfaced (hence it was only 20 dollar a yard instead of 50) for some odd reason. so when i had to rip some seams apart, it wasnt very visible…

I LOVE this variation! The cropped look gives it a great military vibe, very chic! I’m very petite too, I think I might try a variation like yours, it’s so flattering!
