The Talea coat has many wonderful pocket and shoulder details that make this coat so special. However, since most of those details are only set on top, you can easily leave them out if you are looking for a cleaner line. The vivid color is a great contrast to those gray, rainy winter days. We suggest to really spend some time finding the right buttons for your choice of fabric, because they can make all the difference.

I tried making this coat last week. I’ve been sewing for years with other brands of patterns. For starters I had a hard time understanding the instructions. Pieces didn’t fit well, the collar seam allowances are wrong. The “back facing” was too small, throwing the front out of alignment enough that I had to take it apart.
Maybe i’m just not used to Burda patterns. I just really wish I hadn’t gone with expensive fabric to start with.

I just printed off the pattern, and am excited to make another winter coat! I, too, will be lining mine, as I just finally found my instructions for bagging a lining (in the Fall issue of Sew Stylish). No more hand sewing a hem for me!

I love the look of this coat pattern and am currently making the Alden alternate style. But is it just me, or are there no instructions for how to put the tabs together on the sleeves? I tend to just make stuff up when patterns omit things, but I just think this pattern could be more descriptive. Oh, and step 5 is totally out of sequence.

after opening you must change the size f.e 125%. It was helpful for me and after that everything was OK

Love the coat but nobody has commented on how cute that hat is. Would love to find the pattern for that as well.

i love this pattern!, the sleeves are, indeed, wide, but it appears to me that it’s perfect for a heavy winter coat. It doesnt come lined, however, I’m doing mine lined, since I’m making the lining pattern

I was looking for a new style coat for my neice to make. This looks like what I was hunting for…. But it appears to be NOT lined.. Does it come with a lining? That would finish off the coat well.

Most beautiful thing I have seen, ever. I do not feel confident enough to create that, though. But if I did, it would be in some sort of green.

Has anyone made this pattern? The shoulder seam looks a bit wide and the sleeve looks rather large for the kind of fit I like. Is it just that the model is really skinny with teeny shoulders? I would like to make this jacket, I just want to know if she’s wearing too big of a size. Can we see it one someone else?

I made this coat (Black Plaid Talea Coat) and I found the sizing perfect. I made a 40 which is my usual Burda size. The sleeves fit perfectly too. I lined mine and can wear a sweater underneath.
