i couldn’t resist! This is my wedding dress so far. I’m still fitting and finishing everything (like the zipper is only basted in) on the bodice, then i’ll do the skirt (which with everything on the bodice, it’s going to be pretty plain). besides the lace and beading on the back/top of the bodice, the middle piece has both hand and machine embroidery (all the flowers are done by hand with silk ribbon, the bird and scroll are machine).
i did make some changes while fitting the bodice. i took about 2 inches off the shoulder seam, which forced be to reshape/re-dart the neckline. also, i decided that it would look more modern/age appropriate sleeveless, so i had to reshape that (thank god for french curves!). also the stabilizer from the machine embroidery was making it fit funny, so i had to rip all of it out (that was fun).
I’ll edit this after the big day when i’ll have better pictures.
Red silk dupioni (which i got for $4.50 a yard!), red and black (silk?) lace from Habermans (which was much steeper at $24.00/yd), silk ribbon, sulky thread

Wow, you’ll be such a stunning bride! I love the colours and fabrics and the embroidery adds a very personal touch. I looked up the pattern you used, and it’s lovely, but you’ve really used it to make your own. Can’t wait to see the end result!
