This was an easy project. Both garments could be easily made over the weekend for wear on Monday. Or sewn up after work for a weekend getaway. I made the Flutter Sleeve Cardi from a free pattern here on Burda Style as a basic lightweight cover to take on vacation. I found the pattern style is simple and easy to adjust to size. It has turned into one of my most worn items of summer. Think I need to make a second one.
The sundress is adapted off of “Simplicty pattern 3887”http://www.simplicity.com/p-2047-misses-tops.aspx" . To make this dress I uses the front and back pattern pieces for style B and added 1 inch to the top neck line so I could create a cassing for the shoulder straps. I also added lenght to the bottom of the pattern for a dress style. To make the straps and tie I just cut long strips of fabric, stitched, and turned. And finished with the “Crochet Loops technique”http://www.burdastyle.com/techniques/crochet-loops to hold the belt. Simple and fast.
