Burda Style For people who sew
Description
A tad bit too shiny, actually.
I wanted to make the Burda “Scuba” dress for its simple yet great shape. And I got fooled by all the leathery trend going on at the moment and tried my luck at it.
I used stretchy cotton for the main dress, and stretchy leatherette for the front piece. the dress is also fully lined.
The construction is easy enough, and i like the overall result, except for the shine of the leatherette. This is too much for me. Or maybe it’s the leatherette that looks tacky. I wanted a mat and textured one (croc or ostrich embossed), but couldn’t find a stretchy one, so i chose this plain one. Idea-of-the-year.
So, this dress only got worn on Christmas eve, and I now plan to remove the leatherette part and change it for something more wearable.

I like it- if you’re still not into the shine of the leatherette, you could always distress/mattify it with a sponge and some paint… or spray it for texture? Just some ideas :)

Well thank you for your nice comments. I don’t know what to think about this dress now that I get positive comments (here and on a french website) – don’t know if i should remove the leatherette or not….
