I’m working on a 50s secretary style top/skirt combo… here is the top! I will take more photos once the ensemble is complete :) Still debating whether to go with the pencil skirt or a-line.
The project itself wasn’t TOO difficult, though the instructions were a bit confusing (as others have said). I had to make the ties a little shorter simply because I ran out of fabric— but they are still plenty long, and I like them that way. Had a hard time getting the sleeves in, but I think it’s just because I’m fairly new to the whole “adding a sleeve with ease” thing. Still learning! Either way I had fun working on this one and am happy with how it turned out :)
Just a thin cotton!

I think with the volume of the shoulder and the bow an a-line skirt will give the overall outfit a nice balance without looking heavy on the top. That said – beautiful top… I adore the everything about it! The bow to me is a perfect length and Petra Peinado had it right – it does have that WOW factor. I think I need to make me one of these, in light blue. You’ve inspired me. Thank you

I vote pencil skirt – but you could always make more than one co-ordinating skirt! Your top looks very professional – well done!

This blouse looks fantastic, you did a great job! I just check the magazine you got the pattern from and i prefer your length of the ties to ones in the magazine. The colour is not mine but I have to admit it looks very good and you get the WOW-feeling, looking at it. Hopefully it’ll be a favourite piece in your closet and I already look forward seeing the skirt you are working on! (I’d go for a pencil skirt)

I think I’m leaning towards the pencil skirt too :)

Looks fab. I wasn’t overly in love with this shirt when I saw it in the magazine, but I think I will have to have a go at it! x

Agreed! I was a bit skeptical too, but I think if it’s styled correctly it will work out great… definitely a conversation piece, haha :)
