I found this Ribbon Lace dress ages ago, maybe four years ago. Such a gorgeous textile, it’s hard to see in the pictures but there are little glass beads embroidered through the ribbon creating a shimmer. It was a generously cut size 2 long tank dress with a matching bolero type jacket. I KNEW I could make something for myself out of it. My friend fell in love with it and wanted a flapper inspired short version of the dress.
I deconstructed the dress and re-incorporated the jacket as a back panel piece. The dress straps became a draping feature. I think the dress came out great, right on trend with all of the 20’s inspired editorial these days. But then again, 20’s is always on trend for ME!
Laura can wear a nude or black slip underneath the nude dress. She opted for the black slip at this fashion show. In picture #1 She wore a size 22 at the time and wore the dress as a sheath. Since she has lost weight in picture #2 she belted the dress for recent event. She still looks great in it!
