I came across this pattern on here and even though there was only a drawing of the dress I fell in love with it and knew I just had to make it, and with a Christening coming up I had the perfect excuse for making it.
This has been the quickest make, due to only having the one day to make it, but it did take a good 8+ hours.
I had a few fitting issues with the dress and it turned out a bit big, but a think it was sooo worth the hassle of altering. I working out big thing is prob down to me not scaling it right as I’m not really plus – sized I’m UK 14/16.
I decided to make the fitted middle part in a block colour, if you too plan to do this then I would reccommend shortening this piece by about 2-3 inches as the block of colour looked too much when I sewed it per pattern. If you plan to just make this bit in the same fabric then the pattern sized pieces would be fine.
The bust I had to add some darts as there was some gapeing around the arm holes, the neckline was too big for me too, but this was easily fixed with a couple of pleats, which I think add to the overall look of the dress. I didn’t do the skirt the pattern called for, I did a gathered skirt which has a fair bit of fullness in it maybe 2 – 2 1/2 meters. The dress is unlined, same fabric bias strips were used to neaten raw edges.
As you can see, without my super wide elastic corset belt the dress is a bit big, but i ran out of time to alter it so the belt did the trick so I could wear it for the Christening.
I still love the dress even with the few issues I had and plan to make some more.
It’s a great feel good dress.
Thanks to my mum for helping me over come the issues.
Thank you lila-1 for the pattern!

I just made this dress, too, and I love it as well! I actually am about a size 14-16 anyway, so it was easy for me to re-size. I also lowered the neckline, because I prefer to show some cleavage. Lastly i used a stretchy material, which made it easy to play around with the sizing. And you’re SO RIGHT abut the solid bad of material being just a little too long. After the dress was complete I had to run my inside seam in more to shorten it, and trim the edges.

You look gorgeous :) and I love the print Yeah the smallest size on the pattern was an 18NZ/UK, so it would have been a fair bit of work resizing. Thank you so much for putting up your photos and for discussing all the fitting issues- I’ve been waiting for some feedback on this to know whether to work from the same sloper for future patterns, and your info is really helpful :)
