This is my heavily altered version of the striped knit V-neck top in the 50s-style segment of the 02/2010 BurdaStyle magazine. I made a size 38, did a 1-inch FBA and added 5 inches of length and 3 inches of width to the front for my pregnant belly (also added 2 inches of length to the back). I didn’t like how wide the neckline was, so I gathered it in quite a bit with clear elastic. I plan to make a striped version with long sleeves next! This was my first successful maternity alteration to a pattern, and my first successful attempt sewing a knit twin-needle hem!
Super-soft lightweight purple rayon lycra jersey knit with nearly 100% stretch from Western Fabrics, $6/yard. I used most of 1 yard, but didn't have enough for the long-sleeved version.

Thanks! The portrait on the wall is of me and my husband, it was a wedding gift from a cartoonist friend (we’re both cartoonists as well).
