According to most reviews on Pattern Review this is considered an advanced pattern, but I completed it with wearable results so I think it is more an intermediate!
The name was inspired by the color, collar, and most of all that it seems like a fairy tale that this coat actually got made! I spent a lot of time (not counting from the time I got the pattern… maybe a year ago) on this piece and wrote about the pattern and alterations and posted more photos at my blog.
I used Vogue 2449 pattern and 20 beautiful buttons!
(click view all to see latter photos in full size)
(the color is a pale gray if you can’t tell, I prefer khaki but I already own 2 in 2 shades!)
Cotton Poly Drill for the outer
and cotton for the binding

This is gorgeous, I love the details on it, it’s so classy. I’ve wanted a trench for years but I don’t think I have the skills to accomplish that just yet. Great job !

thank you! you know I was hesitant at first, i waited about a year to tackle it, and even now there are a thousand things I feel I could have done even better. But the challenge of this project has pushed me to a new place in my sewing!

this is absolutely stunning! I want one! the colour looks so good on you – well done! I love making skirts and dresses (which are easy to alter – and alter I must ;-) ). but never had the courage to try a whole coat! I would love to see your alterations on your blog, but Burdastyle sends me an Error whenever I try. could you send me the link to your Blog? would be brilliant. I ’ll definitely sew a coat for autumn now, thanks for the inspiration!

That’s fantastic! It doesn’t look “home sewn” at all and I think the colour was a very good choice – it’s not that dark.
