I attended a three evenings class on Pattern Magic at Morley College two weeks ago and learnt to draft a basic block using the Japanese Bunka method and made a few patterns following the book’s diagrams and with tutor’s help. The result – this A-line dress with a bow under the bust. The skirt also has an inverted pleat which plays up the contrast between the ‘gathering’ at the bust and the flare skirt. I used a cheap poplin with slight crosswise stretch to made the dress. You can see more about the making of the dress on my blog:
charcoal colour cotton poplin with stretch, invisible zipper, self fabric bias tape for binding neckline and armhole.

Amazing! I’ve found pattern magic a bit intriguing, but this little black number with the bow is just great!

ive made two now with a larger bow. i quite like this bow! one of mine was too big and stiff considering the fabric i used which was very annoying

yes i love your pokamon dress! so clever! and true a softer fabric would make tying the bow easier!
