Blogged on The Forty Acre Wood
A paperbag waist skirt based on the Maryy pattern.
I made the Maryy dress ages ago (pictures here), but I never wore it. The fit was a bit weird, and I wasn’t too keen on the way the skirt hung from the bodice (the dreaded “I-look-pregnant-even-though-I’m-not” curse struck again!) There’s no point in keeping something you don’t wear, right? So I cut off the skirt and, with a bit of fiddling, made a casing for some non-roll elastic. Very easy, it’s really comfortable and, unlike it’s predecessor, I’ve actually worn it.
If anyone would like a tutorial, shout out and I’ll whip something up. verypurpleperson has a wonderful tutorial if you’re interested too!

That’s a pretty skirt! I am glad you found a way to do something with a dress that didn’t end up fitting right. I also did the Maryy dress but ended up looking pregnant myself. Great job.

Thanks! There’s something odd about the pattern – maybe it comes down to fabric choice? I’m happy with my skirt now :)
