Description

I’ve had a skirt for years that i never worn but bought it because i loved the fabric. Didn’t think it really suited me so decided to use the fabric for something else and ended up making this top – What do you think?

Oh..as for the assymtric pieces..i just used the patterns pieces, made them a bit larger, cut them and stitched them together..probably not the way to do it but it worked.. ;)

Thanks for all your lovely comments – i really enjoyed making it and far happier with this than the skirt.. The pattern i used is Burda 7829 ( http://sewing.patternreview.com/cgi-bin/patterns/sewingpatterns.pl?patternid=17451 ) which is a dress (and in the right fabric, is luverly too) but left it short – For the ‘skirt’ on the top, i just cut out lots of half circles and attatched to the bottom of the top. The pattern has got a zip at the back but didn’t want that so cut that piece out as one large piece instead and made a smock detail at the back….and then made the two small bows on the straps… tadaa!! LOL

I friggin love it! I want it! LOL! You did an awesome job. I love the asymmetry, it counteracts the sweetness with a little funk :D

It’s great, and you were right to keep it for the fabric. Is it a pattern of you own?
