I had wanted to make a ligth and pretty lace dress with heartcut in the front and open lace back for some time and when I found an old lace tablecloth from a triftstore, I though that it would now be the time to finally make my dreamdress real. By chance we had also this fancy dinner for our school’s gaduates coming, so I decided to make the dress for that occassion. I must say that I had (again..) a perfect timing with finishing the dress as I sew the last buttons 20 minutes before I had to run out the door for my ride! Despite that I sew it in a hurry, I’m still happy how the dress looks. The “buttonholes” are made by crocheting and the buttons are simply some pearls.
lace tablecloth, lining, zipper, thread for crocheting, pearls

hehe, thank you again for your incredibly kind words, I feel almost abashed..:‘) And I’m happy to give you a few advice! The dress is actually quite simple, I think that the fabric itself makes a lot. You could use some simple dress pattern for the bodice, just make sure it has some darts for the fit. The skirt is just a gathered circle skirt. I first worked the lining and the lace separately on the bodice, but it would maybe be easier to sew the lining to the lace as a first thing (however then the seamallowances will show on the backside). I hope my explanations were understadable and you got some help, good luck with your sewings:)

thank you!! The skirt is just an ordinary circle-skirt (not full nor half but something between..). For the bodice I drafted a pattern little based on a vintage pattern, that I used for my “blue winter ball” -dress, but I’m quite sure you could use some other simple bodice pattern for your dress:)

Beautiful dress! – how did you finish the edges of the lace around the armholes?

Thank you! I simply turned the edge only a little and sew, so I didn’t add any fabric or anything:)
