Need help Taking Manhattan!!!

Added Oct 21, 2010

British Columbia...

I made the Take Manhattan tunic from the awesome book Twinkle Sews by Wenlan Chia, but I’ve come to the final stages and I can’t decide how I want the front pocket to look…. So I figured I’d ask the Burdastyle community for help! :)

I chose a soft, muted plaid and I can’t decide if I should have the pocket’s fabric on a diagonal (see first fabric-closeup photo), or slightly shifted (see second photo), or match it exactly…. What do you guys think? I kind of like the diagonal myself, but am wondering if it might be too busy. I don’t have enough fabric to cut out multiple pockets… Please help!!!!

Material Notes

Probably polyester…

Fall, Winter
Garment Type
Casual, Grunge

I’d do matchy-matchy. . . . Unless you really want to draw attention to your tummy area. . . .

As there seem to be rectangles instead of squares on the fabric, I am with Ghainskom. But I think your tunic will look great anyways!

If the stripes were homogenous I’d say diagonal. If they were the same width, I’d say option #2 but since they’re neither nor, I’d go for matchy matchy.
