Description

This top is made to match my Nantucket “Crabby” shorts made from the Ruby Shorts pattern.
However, it goes with all my high-waisted skirts (both slim and full silhouette) so it is really versatile.
It is Simplicity 2415 (a So Easy! pattern), your basic ol’ peasant top. I’m probably going to make about 5 more of these because they take very little time to make. The only alteration I did was to cut out the size 10 but use the size 14 elastic guide because people had complained of it being too poofy. I also did the bias tape backwards (oops!) so it is on the outside of the neckline rather than the inside.
The brooch is made from 3 separate yoyos on pinbacks.

This looks really cute on you. The top reminds me of my days growing up on Cape Cod. Just a thought – if you’re making more, why not try skipping the elastic and running cord through the binding so you could control just how poofy it becomes. Make a buttonhole on the center front binding to pull the cord through. You could even use a color cord to match one of the colors in the brooch. Sorry. I think I’m getting carried away, designing another version of your top! Nevertheless, you’ve done a super job!

I love this top. And the binding looks good on the outside. This would make a pretty dress too if you added lenght to it. Great job!
