For quite a while now I’ve wanted a classic beige trench coat. I finally decided to try my hand at making one. I used Simplicity 4084.
The one part of this coat that drove me crazy was the sleeves. Setting in the sleeves was a total pain. The bulk of the fabric in the shoulder area made it really difficult for me to manipulate the fabric into place.
I used a trench coat fabric I bought while visiting China 18 months ago. All of the top stitching was done with a top stitch thread (much thicker than normal thread) so that it would stand out properly.

Your new coat looks great! I love the detail that topstitching thread adds. (I have a similar pattern, but I’m thinking maybe a more unconventional color…)

Great job! A trenchcoat is such a challenge.
For future projects I would recommend to have an eye on ironing and cutting (and cutting back) the seam allowance in lapel and collar.
I like that you used a thicker thread for top stiching!
