My first shorts… The first pattern I made myself… and I love it!
They are comfortable, not too tight for the thighs when I sit down (which is quite difficult to find!).
The vest is my grandma’s work.

That’s normal, there is nothing else in the pattern :)
As all other pieces are rectangles (look at the instructions for dimensions) I though it was not necessary to add them. You have to draw them yourself…

i started these shorts a while ago and got stuck so havn’t done any more. i dont get which pieces you jjoin to which other piece in the very first instruction because when i tried before i got to the bit where you put the zipper in and it didnt work because the pieces were joined up wrong.

To make it easier, I think you should begin to cut one “Front” piece and one “Back” piece by placing the pattern on the right side of the fabric. These two pieces are going to be your first leg. Place them on each other, right side facing. You should have the “long” vertical side of the “Front” along the “long” vertical side of the “Back” (same thing for the “short” vertical edges). Sew along the “long” vertical edges on one side and along the “short” vertical edges on the other side .
For the second leg, cut one “Front” piece and one “Back” piece by placing the pattern on the wrong side of the fabric. Then do exactly as you did for the first leg.
I hope it will help you…
Good luck with your project!

Hi, I love these shorts. Currently making a pair, but I’m stuck on how to do the zipper. Is there a technique this is based on? or could you go into greater detail with more pictures? I would really appreciate it.

I just looked at some of my pants to figure out how to do it. And I am currently unable to upload to picture from my camera to my computer. I am really sorry but I can’t help you right now.
I’ll try to add more picyures as soon as I can.

Oups! I’m sorry my instructions are not clear.
Maybe this: http://www.burdastyle.com/techniques/single-welt-pockets could help you.
The technique is a bit different from mine but the result looks the same.

Great job! The sewing looks great and I love the cut of the shorts (and the entire outfit).
