Lydia, you do my head in!

Lydia in muted blue ponte (my new favourite fabric to sew, so lovely to handle). I have decided my body is not a Burda body., I cut a 42 and had to chop off a few centimetres here and there, quite frustrating really. The top is too long as a top, but perfect as a tunic with a wide belt, so I kept the average height length instead of cutting it off.
Still pretty happy with it and one more item to wear for Me Made May :)

Material Notes

Poly mix, ponte from Potter Fabrics in Leederville (Perth).

Hi Jenny, I have made a Lydia and it was a bit big on me too. I have yet to make another but I will be altering the shoulders-too wide and narrowing the sleeves-too wide. I am tall so the length in this case is perfect. Isn’t Ponti beautiful?? I love the blue you chose and it suits you well. I bought some (navy blue) in a sale for $10/metre and plan to make a Burda dress that I have dreamed about for a while. Good luck with your other Lydia’s.

Ponti was a dream, I’ve not worked with a synthetic before (too afraid it would feel horrible), this fabric was so easy to handle. Don’t you envy all the girls who pick up fabric cheaply, everything is so expensive here at the moment. I bought this fabric from a local wholesaler, can’t wait for their stocktake sale.

Yep, think I really should be making more toiles to improve my chances of success…this is my third Burda pattern that has been enormous :)

I wouldn’t say it’s down to you not being a ‘burda body’, it’s just this pattern. I made one to my measured size and it was so huge and misshapen and wrong. I made it two sizes smaller, with no seam allowance, it was fine. I think it’s just a very badly sized pattern. I haven’t had these problems with anything else of theirs.
