This is McCall’s M6508 , view D, with the standup collar, pleated skirt, and sleeves in a happy apple print cotton. I also added piping along the lines of the collar and the waistband, which was an adventure – I’ve never done that before, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out! I got little wooden buttons to close the front of the dress, but I’m not entirely sold on them – what do you think? I’ve been considering switching them out for some self-cover buttons with red satin, to go with the piping, but I think that might be a bit TOO matchy.

I actually like the idea of red buttons. If you don’t want to be too matchy-matchy, you could look for some red buttons that are plastic or painted wood. Or even green buttons if you can find a close match to the green in your fabric. I agree, the wooden one just don’t seem right. That being said, I do love the dress and the piping is perfect.

Oooh, I hadn’t thought of painted wood or green buttons… I might go have a look, see what I can find! Thank you :)

Thank you! It’s a great pattern, I think I’ll be making a few more of this dress :) I love how this version has an almost 70s-ish vibe, cos of the way the skirt sits and the print of the fabric, but there’s some versions that are classically 40s/50sish, and some that look well and truly modern!
