Hope is a simple wrap dress pattern for knit fabrics with some stretch. The dress uses binding around the unfinished edges which continues to form the ties. This dress is a quick make with only 3 pattern pieces! Make it your own!
This is my first pattern, so I apologize that it’s not perfect! If you have any questions at all, please message me I’ll be happy to clarify :)
This is also posted on my blog if you’re interested in checking it out!

It would be absolutely wonderful if someone had the skills and the inclination to scale up this dress – I love it. I printed it out (even though I’m a 40 (sigh . . .)) and am going to compare the changes you made to the original pattern from New Look as see if I can replicate it. I have no pattern drafting/scaling skills what-so-ever. Your dress looks beautiful – you did a fab job with both it and the alterations you made to the pattern. Lovely!

Thank you so much! I’m so happy you like it! What I originally did on the New Look pattern was to just kind of tape the darts together on the pattern pieces, tape the top and bottom pieces together (account for seams), then trace around it. The trick is the sizing, because it’s sized for wovens. So, choose a bit smaller size than you normally would to account for the stretch in the knit. I actually made the smallest size of the pattern for my sister and then sized down for this (quite a challenge). Hopefully that helps!

I’ve been coveting you’re lovely, simple, elegant wrap dress since you posted it a couple of weeks back…
… I can just see it in a heavy jersey worn with boots for Fall.
But alas although I am a petite Burda 36-8…you are tiny.
…. So I’m pretty sure I’m not alone in wanting this classic piece in a larger size…I know there are many very skilled Burda Style member out there…and am sure many on this forum would thank heartily anyone who felt like grading your lovely dress for larger sizes.

Oh thank you so much for the vote of confidence! I really do wish I could grade patterns, but I haven’t the slightest clue where to start… Maybe you could just print it and add some width where you need it. It is a very simple pattern, the tricky part though would be the sleeves! BS did post a how-to for a wrap dress- maybe you could start there? Anyway, good luck!

Beautiful and classic construction. It looks so good on you! Unfortunately I’m one of the rather broadshouldered girls that if they wear a dress/top that calls attention to their shoulders, it makes me look like a boat. grin But this is a lovely pattern and I think I’ll give it a shot for my mom…thanks so much!
