My first good old granny style bikini with gathered sides.
Just make your own pattern based on based on your own underwear and make the waist as high as wanted. The outer fabric should be double as long (approx. 1 meter) as the lining, gather it in the sides so that it fits the length of the lining.

Wow, I was just thinking of making the exact bottoms while at the beach today! (To go with the Alison swim suit pattern; the bottoms are too skimpy for me.) Yours is lovely, hope mine turns out that well.

What fabric did you use? I’m thinking of making a swimsuit :)

I have actually made a swimsuit with the same fabric, which goes even quicker. The fabric is super cheap stretch from a market in Berlin, and almost everything works as long it’s elastic and light weight.
Looking forward to see yours!

this is not entirly true, some light weight fabrics take up a lot of water and this wil make them very heavy when wet. Especially for a strapless bikini being heavy with water is not really the best scenario ;).
You’d best ask or look for swimsuit lycra.
It’s a beautiful bikini by the way! especially the bottoms are so nice.

REALLY cute! While I think that I’m WAY PAST being able to wear a two-piece, this is just a great little suit! Did you use purchased patterns, or did you draft (especially the bottoms) them yourself?
Great job!
Several years ago now, I was very fortunate to travel to Norway, Denmark and Sweden on a trip with my choral group. I had a wonderful time!
