It’s true: I love Pokemon. And stupid costumes!
This was a very rushed and improvisational sewing project. I finished it four hours before the party I was supposed to be attending. :D
The ears were handsewn, stuffed and colored and glued to a headband using an elongated version of the ears from my Where The Wild Things Are hat.
The dress was drafted/copied from the shape of my favorite stretchy sheath dress – just altered the neckline, and it’s got Pikachu’s signature stripes on the back. I had to keep trying the dress on and resewing it – I swear I can sew anything but clothes!
The tail is three layers of fleece and two of carboard – I had originally thought to reinforce it with wire, but when I sat down to sew it, the wire I thought I had could not be found. This worked just as well but was a little more heavy. The base of the tail is glued in place and then sewed as well. It stayed erect all night! ;)
Be warned if you choose to go this costume route ever that your tail will molest people without your knowing it… so you’ll either be very popular or very creepy. :D
All materials are fleece and felt, tail is reinforced with lightweight cardboard in two layers. :)

I’m a Halloween fanatic and I love making costumes and looking at the creative ones on this site. Yours is one of a kind and so well done! Just wish I could have been there when you had to sit down! : )
