This is my favorite costume I ever made. This is back when I still had dreads and I wanted to be a mermaid before they got cut off. : ( I might wear it again this year though and I rarely wear my costumes twice.
The pasties are cups from a white bra, which I drew on with a gold marker, and the skirt is made out of stretchy materials with a green and blue laser print layered wavy pattern sewn onto it. The top of the dress is a table accessory. The fins are out of this Barbie mesh stuff. I don't know the spacific names to any of the materials. Sorry about that. If you do know, I would appreciate any input and I'll add it.

Thank you for the compliments. :D I didn’t have trouble finding fabric because stores were selling a lot of costume fabrics. And Yes I cut the fabric in long strips with one side being extremely wavy. The waves get smaller towards the bottom. It was a lot of work. I worked from morning to night for about 4 days. :P

You made a great mermaid with your hair in that style. The costume is terrific and looks like it was a lot of work. Are the scales made from wavy layers of the blue and green material?
