My husband is Japanese, and I’ve always been in love with Kimonos and Japanese fabric. I wanted to create something that felt like a cross between a kimono and a sexy 1930s silk robe, but actually wearable. What girl hasn’t thought about just wearing a dramatic silk robe out of the house once or twice?
I used a wide double bordered lace and removed the center pattern for the collar. The appliques on the back are all hand cut and hand beaded.
As with most my garments, I drafted and made the pattern. This one was paper drafted.
Its 100% silk with french seams.
