Floral Summer Dress - princess line

Added Jan 25, 2013

I made this dress from a really light weight rayon that feels more like cotton. The light weight meant it was difficult to keep the warp and weft perfectly square when cutting out the pieces. As a result I ended up with an uneven hem (see photo) until I trimmed it.
Original pattern: Simplicity 3744

Hi Julie. Nice job. I am looking to make something similar. Did you use a pattern? If so, which one?

      Thanks Ruth :)
The original pattern is Simplicity 3744 and this particular dress is very close in style to the original. This pattern has turned out to be great basic as the princess lines make fitting really easy. I’ve used it many times, often altering the style.
