An inspiration for this dress came from the fabric itself: dots in all colors and sizes and borders in 3 different patters.
The dress is constructed from a lot of pieces – front and back skirt panels that flare, under-bust yokes, bust and neckline pieces and back top parts.
Depending on fabric’s ornament, this dress could look both casual and formal.
LAST EDIT: This dress was published on the cover of the Jul/July 2011 issue of the Sew News magazine, along with the article giving the detailed instructions on how to draft the same pattern yourself.

Hi I LOVE this dress! But I just went to download the instructions (I got the pattern) and there aren’t any step by step instructions. Is that right? I’ve noticed that too with some of your other patterns….or is it my computer?

Love this dress! But I just went to download the instructions and there isn’t any on the PDF. I noticed that for some of your other patterns too….Are there no step by step instructions? Or is it just my computer?

Wow, I just stumbled upon the article mentioned above, and had to check that someone hadn’t copied your dress! It’s so pretty, and I think you should get all credits for it, glad to see you did! Here’s the article, published online: http://www.sewnews.com/articles/Pattern_Play__Halter_Dress

Thanks! :-)
This dress traveled around the world, became a professional photo model, appeared on the cover of the magazine, and is quite famous! Should I say – I still can’t believe it’s mine (well, actually – not anymore, I gave it to a friend)!

Hi neonnoir, few people contacted me complaining they had problems with file download. I don’t know what seems to be the problem…
Try downloading the pattern from my blog.

Masterpiece. One need to have a real talent to compose a dress using all the fabric’s patterns so that it finishes with a nice, harmonised piece of garment. Everything in this dress is like to be destined to be made. Anajan surely has an eye for it. :D Pattern downloaded? Definitely! ;)

love this! but I’m not clear on the instructions on hoe to do the straps. I cut out two straps piece “2” as it said on the instructions but i just saw on the paper pattern it says x4. Do use the extra two as facings? hem the straps? help I’m stuck… thanks!

Hi tarasaintpete, thanks for your comment. Yeah, you should cut the piece “2” four times – twice for the straps and twice for the facing.
I’ve just looked at my instructions, and it says:
2. Front neckline inset with straps – cut 2x
Neckline facing – cut 2x
Good luck with the dress, and please post it over here when you finish it!
Best, Ana
