So, I wanted a dress form that would be like me, imperfect. And the only way to get that is to make one yourself. If you’d Google for how to do that, you’ll find a bunch of people who explain how to make a dress form with different techniques based on either duct tape or masking tape.
These tape-based dress forms look really good, but it’s just not me to make a dress form out of tape. If I’m going to make the effort, I want to at least try and get it right. And so I set out to make a dress form that would be as close a commercial dress form as possible.

You’ll need plaster tape, nuts and bolts, wood, PU-insulation foam, fabric to cover the thing and most important: a good friend to help you.

This is an awesome project! I’m doing a study on female body shapes and sizes and have scanned 100’s of women using the TC2 3D full body scanner and thought of creating a model. Checked out your site, and from the looks of it ,it’s way too much PT. You’ve done a great job!!

Wow, I’d love to get scanned like that and have a 3D model of myself :)
Please forgive my ignorance but,… what’s PT?
I am going to assume it’s not a bad thing, so thanks for your kind words :)

I have been getting a lot of questions on how I did this or that. So I went through the trouble of writing it all down and I put it online. It was a lot of work, gosh I’m glad it’s finished and I can sew again ;)
It’s not a classic BurdaStyle project, but I figured it could be useful if others would want to try it.
In any case, your comment already made me forget how much work it was ;)
