I have become obsessed with stripes, and square necked dresses. I found a pattern on Burda for a square necked dress, the Danielle.
I didn’t like how high the back came up so I attempted to alter it but because i’m still new to sewing, the back ended up not working out. Luckily I had some extra lace from a thrift store dress that worked well. The slack at the top of the back of the dress is intentional.
I also wasn’t a fan of the skirt for the danielle so I cut and pleated a rectangle. Bad idea. Because of how pleated I made the skirt the dress now makes it look like i’m trying to hide a pregnancy. I put elastic in the waist but it hasn’t really helped. Next time I attempt this dress I am definitely making the bust longer so it flatters my shape a bit more.
There are no zippers, clasps, buttons, etc. The elastic allowed enough room to stretch.

Thank you! It took me a few months after I got a bunch of fabric to finally make anything with it. I wanted to mix fabrics but I was really hesitant because i’m not good with matching and coordinating things like that. So thank you very much!
