An ideal pattern of shorts for me! Probably the best I’ve ever made… but it needed some simplifying. Firstly, I never make pockets in side seams for pants not to attract attention to the hips :-) Secondly, I omitted the pleats at once. The latter because of the previous experience: once I had shorts with such details but while wearing the pleats opened and buldged right in front. I think pleats would be better if made from light fabric such as crepe, for example, then the pleats will be draping and make nice effect. Linen or other thick fabrics will look different. I also narrowed the cuffs – in this way the proportions are better and they are fixed well.
I made the shorts for my vacation and they are shown in combinations with different self-made tops here. It is a very practical thing, matching any style.
The jacket isn’t new – it’s a part of linen suit from Burda 03/2007, #114.
Linen in the blend with cotton, viscose and some p/a.
