I saw some pretty bamboo and straw clutch bags in the stores. They were something like 40-50$ – which I did’nt feel like spending on a rather small bag.
But I found some amazingly similar placemats in a home-depot style store. They are made from bamboo, and came with bias tape already sewn around them. Each cost ~3.50$.
I added the lining (linen), a pocket (quilted cotton), and my monogram (embroidered on felt) – all from remnants. The lining was attached to the bias tape of the placemat by hand stitching.
I made 2 – and to one of them I added a chain necklace as a handle and a magnetic closure (recovered by my mom from an old bag).
A purchased bamboo placemat, linen for lining, cotton for pocket. Chain for handle – optional.
