The first dress I have ever made; the second garment I’ve ever done.
McCall’s (Butterick) B5317 “very easy” patterns, which ended up being one of the hardest things I have done in my life so far. Lined bodice, double pleated skirt, Invisible pockets, side zipper and I added the sash because alterations were outside of my skill level and it really worked out! McCall is crazy.
Linen for the skirt was PERFECT fabric for beautiful hanging pleats. _

WoW! This dress is really beautiful! Is it your second project ever? Unbelievable! Lining, zipper on the side… you must be a natural seamstress! Very talented!

(laughs) Omagash, thank you!
No. Really. This was the most stressful thing I have ever done in my existence. I’m only really proud of it because I FINISHED. Everything else about it—that it turned out well—is an absolutely miracle to me.

it looks great and it reminds me somehow on austrian traditional costumes called dirndl. with the üockets and the ribbon on the back

I had to look up dirndl when you mentioned it
and I LOVE them!
That would be such a great dress idea! Even with the apron front. Mmmm…modern interpretation, do we dare?

Lady you are radiant in your dress. Gor—-geous! Love all the colour blocking and the print is so wonderful with your skin tone. Really beautiful, you look like you feel like a million dollars in that dress and you do! Congrat’s on your new dress!

Thank you so much!
The dress you see was SOOOO hard
but I think that gladness, that calm, was a mix of “thank God I finished” and “Spring. I thought you’d never come.”
the kicker: I made it for a friend.
and I hope she loves it as much as we do. _ My gratitude for your encouragement abounds.

Wow, what an amazing job! Not only is the fabric combo gorgeous and the fit spot on (did you have to do adjustments? It fits so perfectly you must have or it was drafted just for you), but you look so happy wearing it :-) I must say, I’ve seen that pattern around a few times and never thought much of it as it was on the pattern envelope, but your foxy dress is definitely making me reconsider….

I DID have to adjust the dress! The thing is (even though it was my first dress ever) it was a gift for someone else, someone my size. When I finished, it was huge and I was in tears trying to figure out what in the world I was going to do. I couldn’t send that to her! But Providence showed up and provided me a Master’s Student of Merchandising at a coffee shop who took my dress and told me what to do right there. I did and THAT’S how it turned out. Hahaha, I think I’m more stunned than everyone else on Burdastyle! _
