Burda top + Vintage shorts + handmade(?) necklace

Added Jul 17, 2012

Ithaca, New York...

white cotton lace top is lined with white solid cotton. bound neck and armholes. I altered the top pattern so the mid-bodice patterns are connected to top-bodice patterns. (which ended up being almost the same as the bodice patterns of the dress, so I added the link to the dress pattern, too)

Shorts are based on Vintage Simplicity 8698. I love this pattern! they are so comfortable, and carefree…perfect for summer!!

I also made the pendant using parts I got from Joann.

Material Notes

White cotton lace, white cotton, white double folded bias tape, invisible zipper

light weight denim, invisible zipper, light weight facing

purchesed pendant top, chain

Summer, Spring
Beach, Casual, Romantic, Vintage
Cotton, Denim

How did you combine the two patterns? Which pattern is for which part? I’m thinking about buying the dress pattern so that I can also make a dress and top from it.

The top looks great but I absolutely love those shorts! The pleats are just perfect.

What a lovely summer outfit and you look so great in it as well. Perfect fit!!! Did you sew in the zipper down the centre back or under the arm??

Thank you so much!! I put zipper in the center back so it opens from the hem. I made another version of this top and put zipper in the left side… both options have pros and cons…
