My very own coffee date dress. I had a cocktail party to go to last night, and as the weather has become unseasonably cold couldn’t wear the dress I was planning to wear, so went to the shops after work earlier this week and bought the green fabric, then spent Thursday night and Saturday making the dress.
I am very happy with how it turned out, I increased the darts so it fit me better, and didn’t quite manage to follow the instructions for adding the facing. I also added a line of thin pale green ribbon along both sides of the ruffle to highlight it, which I’m glad I did as i think it would have gotten lost without it. I can now spot from the photos that it’s a bit strained at the sides, I guess because once it was made it was a bit big around the waist so I took it in at the sides, when I probably should have split it between the sides and the darts.
Sewn 2nd May 2009
Bottle Green cotton, 4mm pale green ribbon, invisible zip.

This very nice and it fits you well. I made this dress also but could not do the facing at all. So just did bias around neck and sleeves. You did a good job.
