Mermaid beauties! I created this pattern from some mermaid pics my daughter sent me. The tops are purple or blue shimmer fabric and the tail parts are a lacy metalic fabric with a green satin underneath. I lined them with the legs of my husband’s old flannel sweat pants and for my older grandaughter’ a piece of quilt batting I had, for added warmth. The flowers and leaves are handsewn and then rhinestoned. I added ropes of seed beeds, odds and ends of trim I have collected over the years and shells from various beach trips. The tails are yards of tulle I cut and stretched to give a fish tail look. For the straps I hand sewed fabric leaves to look like seaweed. Head pieces are headbands sewn and hotglued with various beads and trims
beads, shells, tulle, satin, lace, flannel silk flowers and leaves

Thanks! Love working with tulle. With this one especially! Even tearing it a little just gives the costume personality!
