I’m not a pattern maker, but managed to draft this easy top on my computer. It is a PDF print at home with separate PDF instructions. It wasn’t very easy to create these files and I have great appreciation for BurdaStyle and anyone else who has uploaded patterns on this site.
The top is very simple to make, hardest part is the mitred V-neckline, can be altered to whatever you find easiest. Check the related techniques “T Shirt V Neck How to Finish” or " Step-by-step Batwing" for other V-neck options.
My design has been made using any stretch knit, but I'm sure other fabrics would also work. Rib for the neckline.

Thanks for the amazing pattern!
I’m going to give this a try really soon. I think I’m going to try make it longer, to make it into a dress. Of course I’d have to add a belt! I can’t wait to start! lol!

Hi there – I am DYING to make this but just recently started sewing. Could you give me a tip on how i can increase the pattern so it fits a size medium? Also, is the pdf available in a format that fits on 8.5″×11″ paper?

Hi, this is one of my favorites on this entire site. I am excited to use up some of my stash on this pattern. How much fabric does it take? Some of my pieces are only one yard. Thank you!

When you say magic tape to stabilise is that just sticky tape or iron on tape? Thanks for the pattern too!!

Thanks for query. We call it “Scotch Magic Tape” in Aus, it’s just tape which can easily be removed.

I love this top! I don’t know if I can wear something like it (due to my figure), but I surely will try it in some “bargain” fabric to see if it works on me, because it looks sooo nice and I want one! :-) Thank you for the pattern!!!!

P.S. It should tell you how much I love this top – I clicked “Get it” and then noticed that I already had it in my account history TWICE before!!! :-)

your most welcome, if you need any help along the way let me know. If your concerned about the shape, perhaps a really wide waistband at the hem, would look great as a tunic style dress over jeans or leggings. Thanks for your comments ;-)

Thanks for the advice. Actually I am more concerned about my bust than my waist (and the waistband is not going to resolve that, unfortunately). I just don’t know how batwing sleeves will look with a large bust.

I usually have to be very careful about what I choose to sew, because some styles just don’t look right on me.

Do I have to print the pattern on A4 paper or can I do it on letter size?
And since I am making this for a friend, could you help me with the sizings?
She is small, but just to be sure! Edward W.

Ohh, sorry the PDF is set up on A4 size printout, let me know if you get stuck, I’ll see if it’s easy enough to resave as a letter PDF. The model in pic is wearing size S, which is AUS sizes 8-10, hopefully this will give you an indication. Good luck.

which pattern maker did you use?

I created the pattern on my computer in Adobe Illustrator. Firstly scanned my hand-drawn drafted pattern on my flatbed scanner, it was a little tedious as my scanner is only A4 size.

did you print the image yourself or did the fabric come like that? I love it!

Thanks, I created the print using silk screening method, the style of the top is rather plain, therefore some sort of pattern of print would be a good idea.

Please, don’t apologize for having trouble with this site. I appreciate the free pattern and your instructions were easy to follow. This will be on a Xmas list for a friend who needs some new tops for her first job, outside the home, in 15 years. Cordially, Nehmah
