This is a pencil skirt using Angela Kane’s pattern. I have used the pattern before – my blue denim skirt posted here in February 2011. I altered the waistband slightly by widening it and slightly contouring it. It’s fully lined. The pattern has a vent but I ended up drafting my own with a generous 2.5 inch width. I drafted the lining pieces to fit and altered the back lining pieces to allow for some ease at the hips and above the vent. I used Sunnilj9’s tutorials posted here on Burdastyle which are linked below. This You Tube video here was also helpful in sewing up the back vent.

Thanks marec. Took 2 muslins to get the fit right! I like the colour as well – I don’t have many light coloured more formal skirts for summer.
