I used the pattern for the Charlie Grocery shopping bag but also added lining to it. I pieced the bag and lining together with bias tape.

I love it! It rivals the look of popular designer bags! I’ve been looking for an attractive handbag. This comes super close to what I have in mind! :o)

did you just sew a straight seem across the bottom or did you fold in the corners as the original directions explained?

straight seem. It is hidden afterwards by the lining so no need for fancy seems.
Sorry for answering this late!

I like the fabric – sort of reminds me of the 60’s and those gorgeous beach trousers that I wore !!

Thanks for all the comments! It’s great to have feedback. My bag is now on its way to Russia where my husband is bringing it as a present for a friend of ours!!!! Anyway, I am making another one… Quick and simple!

this is super – love the fabric and I think you trimmed Charlie down a bit which makes a far more elegant bag – super work!!!!

Very nice. I was thinking of taking a shot at the Charlie with a lining too; not as talented as you to figure it out. Your Charlie is way… more fancy than a grocery shopping bag.
