So after re-watching Madmen during my sister visit, I spotted a nifty little number that I thought would be appropriate for the occasion (co-worker’s wedding). This dress is modelled after the one worn by Jane Sterling at Margaret’s wedding (day after Kennedy was shot), self-drafted pattern. I couldn’t find the right fabric (a rich velvet lace) and this was the best I could do…not as fancy, but you get the idea. Jane’s had a stark white lining, which matched her oversized pearls perfectly, I opted for a pink flesh-toned lining to match the more casual knit lace fabric. Let me start by saying, this project was the biggest pain in the rear…wondering how one sews a zipper into holy lacy fabric? Lots of cursing and a recreational beverage prepared by my husband helped. Oh Jane, you are so cute but terribly naive. Ask your new husband what he was up to in the alleyway with Joanie, little do you know what season 5 holds for you.
(modelled after Jane’s dress, season 3 episode 12)

This dress looks wonderful on you. Very flattering. The simple form really works well with the lace.

Great dress. Im glad you opted for nude fabric underneath. I think white would have been wrong. Good on you for persevering with that zip. I have tried to sew synthetic velvet to an invisible zipper recently and gave up completely. I need to train my husband like yours!

Well, you know, she was his “other woman” so she can’t be SO surprised if he goes back to Joan, after all, it’s JOAN, she’s the BEST. This is amazing, you look stunning!
