Does anyone have any tips for making the shirred panel on the back of the top? I’m not getting enough stretch to allow me to pull the top on, and then the little stretch I have causes the elastic thread to pull out (the stitching doesn’t prevent the elastic thread to stay put). I’m baffled about how this is supposed to work!

hi, on one edge of the shirred panel i stitched across the ends of the elastic threads a few times in straight stitch to hold them in place; i then stretched the elastic threads as much as I could to the other end of the panel, with the zigzagging along each thread, and while keeping the fabric underneath slightly bunched up, and then repeated the above procedure of stitching across the other ends/edge. however i found the bikini top too tight to get on, so i ended up cutting open the front strip (underneath the bow) and made a velcro/hook and loop tape opening/fastener lol.

Hi Adele1, the burdastyle gives the pattern instructions in a separate pdf available for download on this page! Scroll up until you see “Instructions PDF” and “Click here for download” to download it. It’s to the right of the picture under the instructions for seam allowance and amount of fabrics. Happy sewing!
